We stand on the banks of the Liuyang River in China. After traveling to various countries, Mr. Gao Kailang found the perfect place to distill whisky representing the Chinese terroir in Liuyang, Changsha, Hunan Province - under the Dawei Mountain.

The Gowron distillery uses thermal oil heating for distillation, which can be controlled to a heating temperature of 140 degrees or more, resulting in a more intense Meladic reaction that can give the new spirit a pleasantly toasty aroma, with a sweet, elegant flavor and a lush malty aroma with rose and green apple fruit notes.

We use thermal oil heating for distillation (ordinary distilleries use steam heating, the temperature up to about 130 degrees), you can control the heating temperature to 140 degrees or more, so as to produce a more intense Melard reaction, which can make the new spirit with some toasted aroma of burnt bread, its taste sweet, elegant, malty aroma is rich, and has a rose fragrance and green apple fruit aroma

Goalong Whisky Distillery is located in the middle of Liuyang River Canyon Basin, surrounded by mountains. South of the distillery is about 2.5 kilometers away from Liuyang River, north and south of which are Luoxiao and Lianyun mountain ranges, and the main peak is Dawei Mountain, with the highest peak of 1,608 meters, and 99% of the forests are green, and the rains and mists in all seasons flow through shale rocks formed by billions of years, which are clear, moist, and sweet, and the taste of nature comes out of the shale rocks.

Under the snowy winter mountains at 28°N latitude, we find the most suitable terroir for whisky - the source of the Liuyang River, with its year-round rainfall of 1,680 millimeters, abundant water resources in the surrounding area, and soft water quality, which makes it an excellent area for whisky making!
